We are delighted you have expressed interest in our program! We accept those qualified students, regardless of race, color, religion, or national origin, who, in the opinion of the school, will have a successful experience in our program and will enhance the classes for which they are applicants. We seek to create classroom communities that are balanced by gender and age. Also taken into consideration is the family's commitment to the Montessori philosophy. Members of The River Room Church and siblings of currently enrolled students are given preference for admission. The application process begins by scheduling a guided tour of the classrooms. We encourage early applications, as there are a limited number of spaces in the program. As part of the application process, we ask that you contact the school office to schedule a tour. We ask that children do not attend the initial visit to our facility. The tour will provide prospective parents with a glimpse of our everyday Montessori life and learning. What Is the Montessori Teaching Method

Maria Montessori (1870–1952) was by any measure an extraordinary individual. She initially resisted going into teaching—one of the few professions available to women in the late 19th century—and instead became one of the very first women to qualify as a medical doctor in Italy. As a doctor she specialized in psychiatry and paediatrics. While working with children with intellectual disabilities she gained the important insight that in order to learn, they required not medical treatment but rather an appropriate pedagogy.

Our Director, Sveta Spear has over 20 years experience teaching the Montessori method to children. She is certified by the National Center for Montessori Education for completion of teacher instruction in accordance to the principles of Montessori Education.
